The Housing Authority's $1.2 million underground utility upgrade project at NJ21-1 Riverside Terrace Development has come to an end. All 28 residential buildings and the Community Center/Management Office have received new sanitary lines. Water lines, manholes, storm drain piping, and site restoration, has also been completed. Riverside Terrace Development has also had the trees trimmed and new refrigerators and stoves have been supplied to 30% of the units.
TenCon Contractors has completed the relocation of mailboxes at NJ21-1 Riverside Terrace Development. Denco Construction has undertaken apartment painting, common area painting, and new apartment entrance doors-also at Riverside Terrace. To date, this project is 40% completed and is progressing smoothly.
The Housing Authority, along with NJCDC, has embarked on an Apprentice Painting Program which focuses on painting vacant units at NJ21-1 Riverside Terrace Development. The program allows men and women between the ages of 18-25 to undertake a trade, i.e. carpentry and painting, etc. Some of the units that have been completed to date are 19-11 and 19-5 Alois Place, 13-11 Plesinger Place, and 3-6 and 4-4 Grimes Place.
The water tower supply at NJ21-7 Dr. Norman Cotton Homes has been completed as well, and has alleviated the water pressure problem at this site. Also, pigeon netting was installed to help protect the water tank. The additional parking area at NJ21-9 Masiello Homes has also been completed and provides parking spaces for an additional nine (9) residents, along with a handicap pick up/drop off area. This has alleviated the current parking situation at the site and the surrounding community.
